Cincinnati Children’s has named Andrew Trout, MD, radiologist in chief, effective Oct. 20, 2025.

Trout will lead the Department of Radiology and also serve as an organizational leader as a member of the health system’s in-chiefs leadership group. He will help the organization continue its focus on providing the best outcomes for patients, providing leadership and partnership to achieve growth strategies.

As director of Nuclear Medicine at Cincinnati Children’s (2016-24), he led one of the nation’s most clinically busy nuclear medicine sections, modernizing clinical protocols, selecting equipment and managing operations. He established operational processes for research across the department, led early phase clinical trials in nuclear medicine, received federal funding and led federally funded research.

Trout’s research interests include quantitative abdominal imaging, pancreatitis, nuclear medicine and radionuclide therapy. He is also working to develop and validate quantitative, non-invasive imaging biomarkers to reduce the need for invasive testing.

“I am proud to welcome Dr. Andrew Trout into this new role as our new radiologist in chief,” said Evaline Alessandrini, MD, chief operating officer. “Dr. Trout brings a distinguished track record in advancing clinical care, pioneering research, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders. His experience and vision will help Cincinnati Children’s thrive in a changing healthcare environment, ensuring our continued leadership in pediatric medicine and innovation.”
