ERAS Protocol Reduces Length of Stay by 45%

An innovative approach called the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol can speed recovery after major bladder reconstructive surgery.
In a pilot study involving eight medical centers, patients on ERAS protocols had a median hospital stay of six days vs. 11 days with traditional care, without increasing readmission rates.
Andrew Strine, MD, co-director of the Comprehensive Fertility Care and Preservation Program at Cincinnati Children’s, was one of the lead researchers in the study.
