Chidiogo Anyigbo Named to the 2024 Forty Under 40 Class

Chidiogo Anyigbo, MD, MPH, an attending pediatrician and assistant professor in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics, has been named to the Cincinnati Business Courier’s 2024 Forty Under 40 class. This honor recognizes Greater Cincinnati’s next generation of young leaders and innovators. Anyigbo is among 40 individuals, under the age of 40, who are professional rising stars and making great strides in shaping our community’s future. She and the other awardees will be honored at a celebration Sept. 24.


Mary Greiner Elected Chairperson of AAP’s Council on Foster Care, Adoption, and Kinship Care

Mary Greiner, MD, MS, medical director of the CHECK Foster Care Center and a professor in the Division of General and Community Pediatrics, was elected the next chairperson of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Council on Foster Care, Adoption, and Kinship Care. Her role will begin in the summer of 2025. This council is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and youth in foster care, kinship care, and those who have been adopted.​


Hank the Heart Receives Association of Medical Illustrators Salon Award of Excellence

The Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) recognized the Cincinnati Children’s animated character, Hank the Heart, with a Salon Award of Excellence. Hank was created by medical artists in the Media Lab, Jeff Cimprich, Matt Nelson, Julia Bendon and Cecelia Orr, along with Heart Institute nurse practitioner Michelle Cash, APRN, MSN, CNP, Ryan Moore, MD, MSc, director of Digital Health Innovation in the Heart Institute and Department of Information Services, and Ken Tegtmeyer, MD, Media Lab director. He is an anime-style heart created to teach patients all about the heart using the HANK acronym—Heart, Activity, Nutrition, Kindness. The goal of the animation is to retain children’s attention while teaching them important information about Pulmonary Hypertension such as pathology, symptoms, doctor visits and treatment options. It features cute characters, bright colors, and sketchy line accents to resemble the cartoons kids might watch at home. The AMI is the leading association/community for medical art and animation, and the Award of Excellence is the top honor among the Salon awards.


Rachelle Ramsey Receives Society of Pediatric Psychology’s Donald K. Routh Early Career Award

Rachelle Ramsey, PhD, pediatric psychologist in the Division of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, received the 2024 Donald K. Routh Early Career Award from the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP). This award recognizes the significant contributions of an early career member of SPP to the field of pediatric psychology in research, clinical training and service.


Taylor Richardson Named Rookie Volunteer of the Year by Cincinnati Children’s Volunteer Ambassadors

Taylor Richardson, clinical research coordinator II, Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychology, was named the Rookie Volunteer of the Year by the Cincinnati Children’s Employee Volunteer Ambassadors. Richardson is a former Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship student and Charlotte R. Schmidlapp STEM Scholar.


Carley Riley Receives Uma R. Kotagal Changemaker Award

Carley Riley, MD, MPP, MHS, an attending physician in the Division of Critical Care Medicine, the Community Systems faculty lead in the Michael Fisher Child Health Equity Center and director of the Mayerson Child Well-being Initiative, has been named the first ever Cincinnati Children’s 2024 Uma R. Kotagal Changemaker Award recipient. The award, given every two years, honors the legacy of Uma Kotagal, MBBS, MSc, a pioneer in quality improvement and child advocacy who retired from Cincinnati Children’s in 2021 after 46 years of service. At the time of her retirement, she was senior executive leader of Population and Community Health. Read more about Riley’s award.
