Cincinnati Children’s HealthVine is excited to share its second annual report, which details milestones reached during its second 18 months of operation as a pediatric accountable care organization (ACO).

HealthVine By the Numbers

HealthVine, a network of pediatric care providers and organizations backed by Cincinnati Children’s, provides care management, quality improvement and utilization management for 100,000+ youth living in Ohio’s eight southwest counties who are enrolled in Medicaid through CareSource and Aetna Better Health. Since launching in 2021, HealthVine programs have ensured that members have access to the support they need to live their healthiest lives

“HealthVine’s second 18 months of operation have been defined by growth and expansion,” said Jeffrey Anderson, MD, MPH, chief population health officer for Cincinnati Children’s. “Our care management and utilization management programs continue to achieve and maintain operational excellence while working collaboratively with other HealthVine programs to pursue innovation in various population health initiatives—all to improve the health and well-being of children and families in the region.”

The milestones that HealthVine achieved in the second 18 months of operation include:

  • Receiving accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its care management and utilization management programs
  • Successfully launching the HealthVine OhioRISE program on July 1, 2022, to provide comprehensive care coordination for youth with complex behavioral health needs
  • Developing and implementing a financial incentive program for HealthVine primary care and behavioral health partners
  • Expanding Cincinnati Children’s population health initiatives to launch the Office of Population Health

  • Deepen existing partnerships and develop new relationships with community partners
  • Amplify Cincinnati Children’s Office of Population Health initiatives.

“We are pleased by the accomplishments HealthVine has made and eagerly anticipate what is to come,” said Kim Kaas, MBA, vice president of operations. “As HealthVine expands its partnerships, we look forward to supporting our larger population health initiatives aimed at improving the health and patient experience of our region’s children.”
